Moving Beyond Smoking
Moving Beyond Smoking

According to the American Heart Association, an estimated 26.2 million men and 20.9 million women in the United States are smokers. Smoking in the most preventable contributer to premature death in the United States. It is the main contributer to the more than 440,000 of the 2.4 million deaths that occur each year.

Over the last 20 years, smoking has become less socially acceptable and more expensive than at any point in history, while health awareness around smoking has grown substantially. As a result, more people are trying to quit smoking each year, with mixed results. Although 4 in 5 smokers say they want to quit, about one in thirty six actually do something about it. Of the 1.3 million smokers who quit each year, only about 30 percent are able to quit permanently.

If you’ve decided to quit smoking, it is likely this isn’t your first attempt. There’s a huge industry built around all of the gimmicks to quit smoking. The best way to make a profit on any product is from repeat business. That may be why all of the most popular stop smoking products contain the very drug that you are trying to be free from. Nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs there is.

The best chance for permanent success, is to completely free yourself from nicotine, while finding a way to neutralize the psychological dependence on the habit of smoking itself. Even if you are able to quit smoking long enough for the body to be nicotine free, it is the psychological conditioning that occurred during smoking which makes permanent success difficult.

It is more accurate to think of the psychological dependence on smoking as a symptom, rather than a root problem. If smoking was the actual problem, then quitting smoking wouldn’t lead to a transfer of the issue to something else, such as excessive drinking, drug abuse or weight gain.

Even though there are many techniques, systems and devices to move beyond smoking, hypnosis is one of the few that can effectively resolve the mental aspects of the habit. You may have tried other methods to quit smoking with limited results, which brought you to finally take a serious look at hypnosis.

Hypnosis can significantly reduce the chemical craving and psychological dependence while enhancing your motivation to succeed. Also, when done properly, hypnotherapy can also address some of the root issues that keep you smoking.
