The American Psychological Association defines Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as "an anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal which ocurred or was theatened.Traumatic events that may trigger PTSD include violent personal assaults, natural or human-caused disasters, such as terrorist attacks, motor vehicle accidents, rape, physical and sexual abuse, and other crimes, or military combat."
If you are one of the estimated 5.2 million Americans aged 18-54 that suffer from this affliction, you are likely having trouble functioning normally in your day to day existence. It can affect your family, performance at work, relationships, health and your overall quality of life. Some people live with it for yearsor even decades, never really finding significant relief for what has become a daily exercise in suffering. It is common for those who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress to also use medication or self medicate. According to the website "About.com", approximately 31% of sufferers have used or become dependent on drugs at some point in their lifetime. About 40% have also abused alcohol. While searching for relief, those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress have turned to family, friends, GOD, support groups, psychiatry, psychology and more exotic forms of therapy or treatment. For many, these attempts do provide significant improvement. For others, nothing seems to help. It is often after trying many other ways, that the person seeks out a qualified Hypnotherapist as one more attempt at further recovery. In my experience, Hypnosis is very effective for most, in the relief of symptoms associated with the condition that Psychology has labeled "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)". If you have questions about Hypnosis or would like to begin a program, simply call me at (916)728-1441 and schedule a Consultation. It's free and only takes about half an hour. I will work with you to design a program, discuss payment options and schedule sessions.
